The First Partner Illustration Collections for the Pokémon Trading Card Game have officially been revealed, and unlike a mystery pack, we at least know what’s in them. The first wave in this series celebrates the original starter Pokémon from three regions: Kanto, Sinnoh and Alola.
Here’s the boxed product you’ll find yourself pointing at in shop windows and online listings:

Yes, it looks like someone took every starter from three generations, squeezed them into one little collection, and told them to smile. This series tees up the nostalgic feels — not that nostalgia was tired or anything.
What’s In the Box?
According to the reveal details, each First Partner Illustration Collection – Series 1 will include:
- A special promo booster pack containing three of nine unique Illustration Rare promo cards.
- Two standard booster packs (for reasons we suspect involve pulling something good).
- A full sticker sheet featuring the first partner Pokémon.
This isn’t just a few cards thrown together. The promo cards elevate the product beyond the “I found a Pikachu card in my cereal box” tier into something a collector might actually frame.
The Promo Cards
Below you can see a sample of the revealed promo card art. They’re designed to showcase not just the Pokémon, but also visual callbacks to their respective game regions and iconic backgrounds — subtle enough to count as art, loud enough to be card backs you’ll want in binder pages.

If you’ve spent any time at all around TCG players, you’ll recognise these leads from first-encounter moments — Squirtle squirting, Rowlet coasting, Litten doing whatever it is Litten does (probably plotting). They’re the kind of cards that might jog fond memories, or at least make you wonder where all your youth went.
