Earlier this year, the trading card game based around folklore, cryptozoology, and the paranormal, MetaZoo, made it's comeback with the release of a full set.
Originally a successful release from a Kickstarter over the pandemic, MetaZoo was described as a unique fusion of Pokemon, Yu-Gi-Oh and Magic, that notably included real life elements on the effects and conditions of some cards, breaking the fourth wall.
The original game was popular among collectors, but wasn't the biggest hit ever with players, however with monsters of the industry like Rick Arons, Emily Arons, Richard Garfield, Skaff Elias behind the design of the new TCG, it was sure to be a gameplay hit!
MetaZoo TCG Base Set released in March of this year, with over 200 cards of Creatures, Casters, Auras, Equipment, Strategies and Terras. Decks are built around a Caster, who has an elemental Aura, the element of which you will build the rest of the deck around. You'll choose 1 Caster, 2 Starter Terras, one of which will begin each game active, 10 Auras, and 50 additional cards. On action turns you will complete missions to earn Mission Points, with the first player to reach 30 winning the game!
This incarnation of the series features artwork similar to the original releases, stylised to resemble Ken Sugimori's classic Pokemon Card appearance, as well as many other styles to fill your collections with variety.
Making Waves on August 15th
The game's next expansion is set to release this summer, Torrential Tides. Themed around all things Water, it'll be introducing a whole new Aura type..... Water of course, and plenty of cool watery creatures to accompany. From the Loch Ness Monster, to Yetis, Colossal Koi, and Sewer Alligators. What influences will a whole new Aura element have on the existing gameplay? Will there be any stand out powerful additions of Water cards to keep them competing with the larger rosters of other Auras? So many possibilities within this expansion. 
Plenty of new cards from other Aura elements will also be present, and new editions of returning creatures! The creators claim that it will introduce new gameplay mechanics specifically designed to help with deckbuilding diversity. Such an exciting time for fans and those looking to get started on the game!
Torrential Tides will be released through booster packs, and 24 pack boxes, available at your local game stores, and online such as on TCG Collectibles. Each pack contains 11 additional game cards, including an Aura or Token card.
