The Pokémon TCG: Mega Evolution series has quickly established itself as one of the standout releases of the Scarlet & Violet era, bringing the popular Mega Evolution mechanic back with impressive artwork and a strong lineup of collectible cards. Featuring beautiful Special Illustration Rares, eye-catching Mega Hyper Rare's, and some of the franchise's most iconic Pokémon, the series has attracted plenty of attention from both collectors and players. As of 4th August 2026, several cards have emerged as clear favourites in the secondary market, driven by a combination of rarity, artwork, and demand. With Pikachu's enduring popularity, the eye-catching Special Illustration Rare artwork, and the sets strong demand has helped establish it as one of the expansion's most sought-after cards.

4. Mega Dragonite EX - Ascended Heroes 290/217 - £424.98

The Mega Dragonite EX #290/217 is yet another stunning Special Illustration Rare in the Ascended Heroes set. With its popularity and artwork featuring its evolution line within the artwork, this has made it one f the standout cards in the set and a must-have for fans of Dragon-type Pokémon.

3. Mega Charizard X EX - Phantasmal Flames 125/094 - £641.49

Without a doubt the biggest Charizard in the Mega Evolutions series. The Mega Charizard X EX #125/094 places itself as the top Charizard chase with its stunning artwork featuring the Evolution trio. 

With it being the defining card of Phantasmal Flames. Its breath-taking Special Illustration Rare artwork, Charizard's enduring popularity, and status as one of the expansion's rarest cards have kept demand exceptionally high since release.

2. Pikachu EX - Ascended Heroes 276/217 - £692.27

Known as the 'Treekachu', the Pikachu EX #276/217 is the Special Illustration Rare from Ascended Heroes  and is one of the set's biggest collector favourites. Whether the term 'Treekachu' was given due to the forest theme or the fact there is a hidden Pikachu on a branch (Let us know when you can see it!), this is without a doubt one of the best Pikachu artworks we have seen for a while.

Taking the #1 spot is the Mega Gengar EX #284/217 Special Illustration Rare from the Ascended Heroes set (No surprise there). 

Encapsulating all that you'd relate with Mega Gengar, from emerging from a dark dreamlike void, to his enormous Grin. This has become a big fan favourite card from the set and a must have for Gengar Collectors within the hobby.
