After a long wait we've finally been getting news about the Pokemon Champions game releasing next month.
Sorry, this isn't a TCG blog today!
I have a lot of thoughts on this game as someone who's been playing a lot of the games competitively for years, but really right now I just want to focus on what I want to HEAR in the game.
We don't really have information on what could and could not be included. Maybe it's everything!
I'd say that safe inclusions will be:
-Latest version of every Trainer Battle Theme (kinda as pictured above)
-Latest version of Gym Leader Themes (if they were bothered to program Gen 8 & 9's correctly)
-Probably Champion themes???(it's in the game's title)
-Maybe Wild Pokemon Themes
Tracks that don't fit into common categories like this are maybe more likely to be left out, but hopefully not!
What I Hope To See (Hear?)
Rival Battles
These are present in basically every main line game, with some games even having multiple songs for multiple rivals. I kinda think that any track associated with a single character who wasn't a champion maybe could be excluded, but I really hope not.
Some of my most wanted from this category would be Gladion's theme from Sun and Moon, and both Bede and Marnie's themes from Sword and Shield.
Battle Frontiers
I really could see these being left out, which would be a shame. The Battle Tree Boss theme from Sun and Moon is an excellent reimagining of both Red and Blue's iconic themes, and the Frontier Brain theme from Emerald or Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire is a fan favourite too.
Evil Teams
In the past three years, Battle! (Team Star) has been my go-to song for any Pokemon battles, and while I'll surely have a break from it I'd also be sad for it to go.
There's a lot of great Team Grunt tracks, though I think fans would really kick up a storm if some of the Team Boss tracks were missing. Archie/Maxie from Omega Ruby Alpha Sapphire has had such a following for the past decade, along with Guzma's theme from the very next games.
