We're only a few weeks out from another new Magic: The Gathering expansion, and this time it's another highly anticipated main series set. The franchise returns to the world of Strixhaven, the School of Mages, as the first set was called back in 2021, where five colleges compete to have the most impressive magic.
Start Playing The Most Popular Format - Commander Decks
This set features a massive five Commander Decks to try out, each themed around a college of Strixhaven and unique style of play. While the full card lists haven't yet been revealed, we have a bit of an understanding about how these decks will play from their descriptions and commander cards.
Witherbloom Pestilence is a sacrifice deck, where you gain value from sacrificing your own creatures. Doing this allows you to draw more cards and achieve a stronger board faster, as well as recovering life for a mana cost.
Silverquill Influence seems to be a tricky deck, focusing on messing with opponents instead of heavy setup on your own side. By forcing creatures to attack you can disrupt opposing plans too and raise the pace of the game.
Lorehold Spirit is a unique deck built around managing your graveyard. Quintorius' abilities let you discard something that you'd like to have in the graveyard, drawing new cards at the same time, and has the ability to buff spirits!
Prismari Artistry rewards casting expensive instant spells. It seems to play aggressive, from what we can tell from Rootha, who creates elemental creatures as strong as the mana value of the spell you cast at the beginning of combat.
Quandrix Unlimited seems like it'll be a classic commander snowball, with Zimone reducing the mana cost of spells based on the +1/+1 counters on her, and an ability to add those counters to herself through using those same spells.
Open Some Packs - Play Boosters
Play Boosters are the standard booster packs of Magic, containing the majority of cards in the set.
You can get these as Single Packs, or 30 Pack Boxes, as well as finding them in most other products!
The highlight cards to try and pull are without a doubt the Mystical Archive Cards.
Guaranteed Rarity - Collector Boosters
The second type of booster pack, Collector Boosters contain more rare and foil and holo and all that cards, as well as some exclusive designs that aren't found in Play Boosters.
Again, these are as Single Packs or 12 Pack Boxes.
Perfect Starting Point - Bundle
This amazing package includes 9 Play Boosters to get your collection going, as well a selection of foil and non-foil Land Cards, an alt-art Wisdom of Ages Promo Card, and an oversized life counter. I'ts really a bit of everything you'd need!
Upgraded and Limited - Codex Bundle
I want to be nice to the other bundle, but there's a clear winner here. This one, designed to look like a book, includes 2 Collector Boosters on top of 6 Play Boosters, 2 Promo Cards, and all foil Land Cards.
Already Ready - Theme Decks
Everything you need to play the Standard format can be found in these, including a 60 card deck, double sided tokens, deck box, reference card, and strategy insert! Both of these are designed to be fairly strong, but primarily fun to play in Standard, especially against each other.
A Good Time With Good Friends - Draft Night
Up to four players can compete in this draft event in a box! With 12 Play Boosters to open and build from and 90 Land Cards, friends can have a laugh and compete over the ownership of a Collector Booster. Perfect for when you want to have people over who love the game as much as you, or are trying to get into it!
.....if you all really want the Collector Booster maybe it becomes
A Bad Time With Bad Friends
